Tuscaloosa Woman Shoots Tires, Attacks Car With Baseball Bat During Argument
A Tuscaloosa woman reportedly shot out the tires of an occupied vehicle and attacked it with a baseball bat Sunday during an ongoing feud with another woman over her dogs, arrest documents filed Monday said.
The court documents said Tuscaloosa Police Officers were called to a residence on 17th Street around 4 p.m. Sunday on reports of gunshots fired in the area.
After interviewing all parties involved, investigators believe the ruckus arose out of an ongoing dispute between two women.
Officers said they believe the duo had already had a physical fight at the same location and that the suspect, 34-year-old Kakeyonna Shenavia Jones, called the other woman back to the same spot for another round.
The second woman reportedly pulled up to the residence and got out of her car with a baseball bat. Jones then reportedly stepped inside the house and came back outside with a gun.
The victim told police she got back in her car while Jones pointed the gun at her and threatened her, but when she tried to drive away from the scene, Jones allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, shooting at both tires on the passenger side of the car.
Jones then reportedly opened the door of the vehicle, grabbed the victim's baseball bat and began beating the car with it before police arrived.
Officers said they believe the feud is rooted in a disagreement over dogs owned by one of the women involved.
When police spoke to Jones, she reportedly said she felt threatened by the baseball bat the other woman was carrying and opened fire in self-defense, but investigators still found cause to arrest her and charge her with one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, a Class B felony.
Jones was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where her bond was set at $20,000.
