Many Events & Deals to Honor Veterans in Tuscaloosa County This Month
Servicemen and women in West Alabama will have more opportunities than ever to be recognized and celebrated this month as several organizations are planning events around Veterans Day next Monday.
The roundup includes a new parade at the VA Medical Center, a fresh event offered by the city of Northport, the return of an annual program and deals available at a handful of vendors across the area.

Tuscaloosa VA to Host Its First Veterans Parade
Tomorrow, on Wednesday November 6th, the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center will hold its first-ever Veterans Parade in known history.
The event will honor both those service people who reside at the VA and all others who reside in West Alabama.
The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at the VA Medical Center's main road from Building 137 and will follow a route ending near the Hospice of West Alabama's building in the area.
There will be marching bands, first responders, staff from the VA and more participating in the parade.

PARA's Veterans Day Program Returns to Memorial Park
The best-known Veterans Day event in the Tuscaloosa area will return to the Memorial Park in front of University Mall on McFarland Boulevard.
This year, the Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority will welcome Captain Chad Fleming to share a message during the program.
That event begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 11th, at Tuscaloosa Veterans Memorial Park at 1701 McFarland Boulevard, or at the Magnolia Shelter in Snow Hinton Park in case of inclement weather.
Northport Invites Veterans to Enjoy Coffee & Donuts
The city of Northport hosted a Veterans Parade in 2022 but said there was not enough interest to bring it back in 2023. This year, the city is introducing a new event to honor those who served in the military.
Donuts and Coffee with Veterans in Northport will be hosted at City Hall on 3500 McFarland Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. on November 8th, this Friday.
At 10 a.m., attendees can hear from retired Captain Synthia Stanton Jones of the United States Navy, the guest speaker selected to honor the sacrifice and dedication of area veterans.
Chicken Salad Chick to Offer Free Meals
Chase Roberson, the owner of the Chicken Salad Chick restaurants in Tuscaloosa and Northport, told the Thread that he will offer free meals to all veterans and active duty members of the military next Monday.
According to a press release, servicemembers in uniform and those who present a valid military ID at the register will receive a complimentary Chick Meal and regular fountain drink.
Veterans Can Get Free Coffee at Whataburger All Year
Whataburger, now with three locations in the city of Tuscaloosa, is also honoring Veterans next Monday by offering a free 16-ounce hot or iced coffee to those who have served.
As with other offers, those in uniform or with a valid service ID can stop by any Whataburger location to claim the offer. But in a Friday press release, a Whataburger spokesperson said they will extend this offer all year long - qualified service people or veterans can get a free coffee every day for the rest of the year.
7 Brew Coffee to Give Veterans Day Discount
Finally, anyone looking for even more caffeine can get a discount at 7 Brew Coffee on 15th Street next Monday.
According to a news release, 7 Brew is offering 25 percent off any drink for anyone with a military or veteran ID at any location in the US on Monday.
