Eighteen organizations submitted an application for the $50 thousand Tuscaloosa Rotary Club Memorial Foundation grant. The Phoenix House was voted the winner based on a stringent set of Criteria. The Rotary Club made the presentation during their meeting yesterday at the Indian Hills Country Club.

Rotary Club Memorial Foundation grants support community projects, often for local non-profits, focusing on Rotary's key areas like health, education, and economic development.

According to their website, Phoenix House of Tuscaloosa is a state-certified Transitional Residential Treatment facility committed to helping men and women across Alabama overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.

Their program is made possible through the generous support of The United Way of West Alabama, numerous community partners, and private donors who believe in their mission of recovery and transformation.

Currently Phoenix House provides residential care for up to 28 men and 12 women, who are offered a structured and supportive environment where healing can begin.

The Tuscaloosa Rotary Memorial Foundation (TRMF) was created by the Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa in 1971, as a separate legal entity to provide a vehicle for tax-deductible contributions to club projects. From its first project in 1972-73 to the present, Rotary has raised and contributed more than $1 million to community organizations. Projects include
he Rotary International Student Center of UA's campus, the Tuscaloosa: Public Library, Salvation Army, Bama Theatre, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, and many others.
