The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force arrested 12 men in a weekend prostitution sting operation at a hotel in Tuscaloosa, police sources said Monday.

A spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department confirmed to the Tuscaloosa Thread that the task force conducted a two-day operation at an area hotel that led to 12 arrests.

Each suspect, all of whom were men, was charged with soliciting prostitution. One man was also allegedly concealing a handgun without a pistol permit and another was caught with a small amount of marijuana.

Most of the men are from Tuscaloosa, Northport and Buhl, although two men from Columbus and Moss Point, Mississippi were also arrested.

Soliciting prostitution which is a misdemeanor in Alabama, and it is the general policy of the Tuscaloosa Thread to only identify suspects accused of felony offenses by name.

Because the men have been charged with misdemeanor offenses, they will not be identified in this report.
