A Tuscaloosa man was killed Thursday morning in a single-car accident on Interstate 20/59 that overturned his vehicle, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers have confirmed.

Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Troopers in West Alabama, said 65-year-old Roy Luster of Tuscaloosa was driving a 2011 Nissan Armada on I-20 sometime around 10:15 Tuesday morning.

The SUV left the highway and overturned, and Luster was ejected from the car in the accident. King said he was not using a seat belt.

Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene of the accident.

King said the circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, but Troopers believe excessive speed was a factor.

No further information was available Thursday night as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
