A Tuscaloosa man arrested Wednesday faces 15 criminal charges and several traffic citations after police reportedly discovered cocaine, methamphetamines, opiates, heroin, marijuana and more in his car after he fled a traffic stop.

According to court documents and an incident report provided by the Tuscaloosa Police Department, the defendant, Ronndy Charles, refused to stop after a TPD officer attempted to pull him over during a routine traffic stop.

Charles allegedly led officers on a lengthy chase along McFarland Boulevard and Hargrove Road and around University Mall and Northington Elementary School before Charles and his passenger tried to bail out of the car on Dubois Terrace. There was just one problem -- the passenger door through which they were trying to escape was blocked by a fire hydrant.

The duo then reportedly exited through the driver's side door, but officers had caught up to them and took both men into custody after a short foot pursuit and physical struggle.

A search of Ronndy's person and his vehicle hit the narcotics motherlode. According to court documents, officers found a large sum of cash, 280 grams of cocaine, 44 grams of methamphetamine, 22 grams of heroin, 50 grams of hydrocodone, 14 grams of MDMA ecstasy, 380 grams of marijuana, 13 grams of Adderall and a half-dozen alprazolam pills.

Charles, a convicted felon, also allegedly had a 9mm pistol on his person.

After he was taken into custody, Charles reportedly told narcotics officers that selling drugs was his only source of income.

Ultimately, Charles was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking heroin, trafficking hydrocodone, trafficking cocaine, first-degree marijuana possession, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, certain persons forbidden from possessing a firearm, and four counts of failure to affix a tax stamp. He was also ticketed for failure to signal, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Charles was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he remained Saturday morning on a combined $2,075,000 bond. His passenger was charged with resisting arrest.
