The Tuscaloosa Community Dancers have confirmed the dates for their annual production of "The Nutcracker."

The holiday classic will be performed at the Bama Theatre from December 7-10. The production schedule will also include "Breakfast with the Nutcracker" before the Saturday performances.

All Performance Times:

  • Thursday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
  • Friday, December 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 9 at 8:45 a.m. (Breakfast with the Nutcracker)
  • Saturday, December 9 at 10 a.m.
  • Saturday, December 9 at 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 2 at 2 p.m.

The Nutcracker Breakfast will be held at the Battle-Friedman House on 1010 Greensboro Avenue. Artistic Director Alden McShan said that Chick-fil-A and donuts would be provided, in addition to allowing attendees to meet the performers in character.

In its 52nd year, this will be the TCD's largest performance to date. A recent press release revealed that 125 cast members will be involved in putting on the show.

Key cast members include Jennifer Lauren Quarles, a principal soloist with the Miami City Ballet, who will be playing the Sugar Plum Fairy. Drosselmeyer will be played by Joey Lay, a regular performer in Tuscaloosa theatre events.

The show will incorporate UA students as well, with Marleigh Campbell and Brylee Meissner playing Clara and CeCe Hanley taking on the role of Fritz.

Tickets for the show and breakfast will be available for purchase on TCD's website on November 1.
