Tuscaloosa County Residents Can Dispose of Hazardous Waste for Free Saturday
Tuscaloosa County residents have a free, safe option for disposing of hazardous household materials this weekend.
The City of Tuscaloosa's Environmental Services Department and Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa will host Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day this Saturday, June 6th, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Public Safety Logistics building on Reese Phifer Avenue.
Residents should note the event ends an hour earlier than in past years.

The free drop-off event accepts a wide range of materials that should not go in regular trash or down the drain, including paint, automotive fluids, batteries, propane tanks up to 20 pounds, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, solvents, lightbulbs and mercury-containing equipment, among others.
Items not accepted include tires, electronics, medical waste, radioactive materials and standard household garbage.
The event is open to Tuscaloosa County residents only — IDs will be checked. Waste from commercial businesses, nonprofits and out-of-county residents will not be accepted. Questions can be directed to Tuscaloosa 311.
