A near-record-setting cold front arrived throughout the state and region Thursday night, and temperatures in Tuscaloosa have dropped into the single digits, with wind chills below zero.

The extreme cold is forecast to stick around through Christmas, with temperatures only rising into the 40s on Monday and Tuesday. Until then, the city and much of Alabama are in the grips of some of the coldest weather in decades.
