Tuscaloosa's Celebration on the River Returns on Thursday

Tuscaloosa will once again celebrate the nation's independence when the Celebration on the River returns to the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater and local airwaves on Thursday.

The annual Fourth of July show will feature fireworks, kids' activities, live music from the Tuscaloosa Symphony orchestra and more at the Amphitheater.

As in years past, the soundtrack for the firework show will also be broadcast on all of Townsquare Media's live and local radio stations so spectators can tune in from anywhere, although the city emphasized the best bet for a clear view seated within the Amp.

The city's Kid Zone opens to the public at 6 p.m. and will be complemented by a performance from DJ Tank.

The Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra will take the stage and begin an hourlong patriotic performance at 7:55 p.m.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox is expected to give brief remarks and the fireworks show begins at 9 p.m.

The event is free to attend and folks are encouraged to park in the Downtown Intermodal Facility parking deck - also free - and take a shuttle to the Amphitheater. Accessible parking will be available at the venue for those who need it.

Remember the rules of the venue, including their clear bag policy, and make plans to catch the show on Thursday, but prepare for the weather - the Fourth is forecast to be the hottest day this week.
