An apartment in Tuscaloosa was seriously damaged in a fire the night of Memorial Day, but no one was injured in the blaze, the Thread has learned.

According to a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue service, TFR units received a call reporting a fire at Hodo Haven Apartments, which are located on 33rd Street East, at 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters observed smoke coming out of the residence but were able to extinguish the flames.

TFR determined the fire stemmed from a cooking accident, the spokesperson said. No injuries were reported in the incident, but one unit sustained extensive damages.
