The Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service will host a blood drive next week in memory of the more than 400 first responders who lost their lives 23 years ago during the September 11th terror attacks.

In a Thursday press release, TFR spokeswoman Holly Whigham said their department will partner with Tuscaloosa Police, the County Sheriff's Office, the Alabama Fire College and NorthStar Paramedics to host a 3-day blood drive next week.

They're aiming to draw in 110 blood donors - one for each story of the World Trade Center towers, which firefighters climbed without concern for their own safety to save lives.

"Every blood donation will honor the past while providing hope for the future," TFR said in a release.

The blood drive will run September 11- 13th, next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Donations can be made at Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue's Administrative Office at 3200 Greensboro Avenue.
