Not surprisingly, Republican Tommy Tuberville and Democrat Doug Jones will square off for Alabama governor in November. They met six years when Tuberville took Jones U.S. Senate seat from him. Now both want to succeed Kay Ivey as the state's next governor.

On the Republican ticket Tuberville won 84% of the vote while his November for Jones won an equally impressive 79% of the Democrat ballots.

At his victory party last night, Tuberville continued to make the same bold promises that he has since he declared his candidacy. "I'M going to make everything we have better," Tuberville told the crowd and a statewide TV audience. "Now, its going to take awhile and I'm gonna need a lot of help. "It's not a one man show, a one person show. Its like football, you better have good people around you and thats exactly what we've been trying to put together for the last 14 months."

"Whose ready to make sure the Florida man stays in Florida next year?" and extactic Jones asked a cheering crowd, referring to questions about Tuberville's legal residence.

Jones told the crowd it is humbling to know so many people have put their faith in him. "Tonight, I'm asking that all of those folks, everybody across this state come together, come together by recognizing that what is a stake for Alabama is bigger than any party, bigger than any faction, its bigger than any one person. This is a campaign for all of Alabama."

The general election campaign will draw national interest and each candidate is expected to get backing from their party's national leaders.
