Tua Tagovailoa Passed Physical, Ready For Training Camp
Former Alabama quarterback and fifth overall draft-pick in this past year's draft, Tua Tagovailoa, has passed his physical and is ready to fully participate in Miami Dolphins training camp. Tagovailoa is fully recovered from the hip injury he endured in November while playing for the Crimson Tide and will now compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen to become the starting quarterback for the Dolphins.
Tagovailoa declared at the NFL Combine that he would be healthy enough to start the year without limitations, and passing the physical today proved him correct.
By passing the physical he avoids being placed on the physically unable to perform injury list. A designation used by organizations for players who are still recovering from injury but will be healthy later in the year.
If he is able to overtake Fitzpatrick and Rosen as the starting quarterback in training camp, he will become the youngest starting quarterback in Dolphins history at 22 years and 195 days old.
The Hawaiian quarterback is renowned for impeccable accuracy during his days at the Capstone where he was surrounded by top-level talent at the collegiate level. He was a part of an offense that had four players drafted in the first round.
He joins an offense that finished 27th in the league in yards per game and a Dolphins team that notched a record of 5-11. The Dolphins have former first-round draft pick DeVante Parker and up-and-coming tight end Mike Gesicki to receive passes from whomever ends up as the Dolphins starting quarterback.
