TRANSFER PORTAL: Bama’s Holt and Gary Announce Landing Spots
Crimson Tide basketball now is officially losing three players to the NCAA Transfer Portal after guard Jusaun Holt and forward Juwan Gary announced where they'll be playing in 2022.
Gary, a 6-foot-6 rising junior, announced his commitment to Nebraska with a post on Instagram saying, "Wassgood Lincoln!!!! @huskerhoops #JG4."
He made 16 starts for Alabama last season averaging 6.5 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Gary shot 51.4% from the field and was only second in minutes at the position to Noah Gurley.
Not long after, rising sophomore Jusaun Holt committed to in-conference Georgia with a post to his personal Twitter account reading, "We locked in !! !! !! #godawgs."
Holt saw little time with the Tide coming out of Roswell, Georgia, as a four-star freshman in 2021. He made 22 appearances with no starts in his one season and never scored more than seven points during each of his opportunities.
Seven players from Alabama's 2021-2022 team have entered the transfer portal since the season-ending loss in Round 1 of the NCAA tournament. Senior forward James Rojas was the first to go as he announced his departure for Wichita State earlier in the week.
The program has four players left in the transfer portal, still waiting for decisions from F Keon Ambrose-Hylton, G Britton Johnson, G Jaden Quinerly and F Alex Tchikou.
Guards JD Davison, Keon Ellis and Jaden Shackelford have all decided to turn pro and, despite making a decision at the end of the season, Jahvon Quinerly has recently been reported to return for 2022-2023.
