He made 16 starts and 29 total appearances in his most recent season and averaged 6.5 points per game for the Tide. Since he redshirted as a freshman for an ACL injury, Gary has two more seasons of eligibility left should he ultimately leave the Alabama program.

Gary is the fifth player from the 2021-2022 Alabama squad to enter the portal along with sophomore Keon Ambrose-Hilton, freshman Jusaun Holt, redshirt freshman Alex Tchikou and sophomore Jaden Quinerly.

The 6-foot-6 Columbia, South Carolina native was a four-star recruit coming out of Gray Academy in 2019. Before choosing Nate Oats and Alabama, Gary also received offers from East Carolina, NC State, South Carolina and UConn.

He made 247Sports' top-100 list as a prospect and was ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of South Carolina in high school.

Alabama basketball's cycle of turnover after the underachieving 2021-2022 season only continued with Gary's decision as he is now the fourth scholarship player to announce his transfer. He's the sixth player to leave the program in total with Jaden Quinerly's departure and Jaden Shackelford's decision to go pro.
