UPDATE, 5 P.M.: All vehicles involved in the accident have been removed from the roadway and all three lanes of McFarland Boulevard East are open again.

Police in Tuscaloosa are working to unsnarl traffic after a multi-vehicle accident on McFarland Boulevard East near DCH Regional Medical Center Thursday afternoon.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said details were scarce at 4:30 Thursday, but confirmed the wreck involved six vehicles and occurred in the area of East McFarland Boulevard and East University Boulevard.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt in the accident.
