Shadereka M.L. Green, a 24-year-old Tuscaloosa woman driving a 2015 Hyundai Genesis, collided with a 2022 Ford F-350 being driven by a Newbern man on Highway 69 South.

King said there were two children, 3 and 4, in the Hyundai with Green and none of them were wearing seatbelts or child restraints. All three were ejected from the vehicle.

After that, a third vehicle struck the 3-year-old after they had been ejected. King said the third vehicle did not stop or return to the scene, and police are still searching for that driver.

The 3-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and Green and the other child were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

King said the wreck took place on Highway 69 about seven miles south of Tuscaloosa.
