A man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot another man in the chest last month at a south Tuscaloosa apartment complex.

Keylon Dijon Davis, 32, of Tuscaloosa, faces the charge over a September 20 shooting at Legacy at Country Club Apartments, according to a deposition filed Wednesday in district court.

The Thread first reported the shooting the night it happened, when the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit confirmed it was investigating a non-fatal shooting at the complex.  Tuscaloosa Police responded to the complex at 1601 Mimosa Park Road  around 5:50 p.m. that Sunday evening, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Using witness testimony and other evidence, investigators identified their suspect as Davis, who allegedly had a small altercation with the victim at the apartment. The charging documents allege Davis left the apartment, but came back a short time later and shot the victim him in the chest.

Under Alabama law, attempted murder is a Class A felony. Records show Davis is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond, pursuant to Aniah's Law, until a hearing where a judge will decide if and where to set it.

Davis has not entered a plea and is presumed innocent unless and until he is convicted.
