In order for Alabamians to vote in the General Election on Nov. 3, they must register by the end of today, Oct. 19.

To complete the application process, the law indicates that a person must meet each of the following criteria, per Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill:

  • You must be a citizen of the United States
  • You must be a resident of Alabama
  • You must be 18 years old either on or before election day
  • You must not be barred from voting due to any sort of felony disenfranchisement
  • You must not be determined "mentally incompetent" in a court of law

Eligible voters can register quickly online by either visiting AlabamaVotes.gov, or by going through the "Vote for Alabama" mobile app. Alternatively, Tuscaloosa residents can visit the County Board of Registrars office.

Below are the locations in Tuscaloosa where applications can be picked up:

  • License and Tag offices in Downtown Tuscaloosa / Northport / Skyland Blvd. Annex – 2501 7th St. #100 / 3500 McFarland Blvd. / 2645 Skyland Blvd. E
  • Main Tuscaloosa Library – 1801 Jack Warner Pkwy.
  • Department of Human Resources and Rehabilitation Services – 3716 12th Ave. E
  • Tuscaloosa County Board of Registrars in the Courthouse Annex – 2501 7th St. STE 200

In addition, Merrill invited any individuals in need of assistance with registering to call his office phone at (334) 242-7200.

"Our staff will be accessible until 11:59 tonight to answer any last-minute questions," Merrill said in a Monday press release.

Online registrations will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. In-person registration will be accepted until the close of business today.
