Three Tuscaloosa Couples Back in the US After War Disrupts Trip to Israel
Three Tuscaloosa businessmen and their wives who were in Israel when war broke out with Hamas last weekend are safely back in the United States and have returned safely home.
Gene "Poodgie" Poole of Hudson-Poole Fine Jewelers confirmed he and his wife Jamie landed in Miami, Florida Thursday and were set to arrive back in Tuscaloosa before midnight.
The Pooles were with two other couples, Jimmy and Emily Warren along with Lynn and Melinda and Lynn Corder, on a tour of biblically significant sites in Israel when the country was devastated by terror attacks this weekend.
Fortunately, the Tuscaloosa group was away from most of the violence in Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
Early efforts to fly out of Israel were not successful, so the three couples traveled to Amman, Jordan. The Pooles and Corders missed the first flight they booked out of the country, but the Warrens were able to leave Wednesday.
The other two couples finally made it back to the United States Thursday evening and confirmed they had made it to Miami.
The last of the Tuscaloosa group will get back home sometime before midnight, they said, exhausted but glad to be back.
