Tommy was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School class of 1967. He worked at Willcut Block, driving a forklift and making cinder blocks. Then he worked as a heavy equipment operator with Cockrell & Company, Woodruff & Associates, and GFC Construction. From there, he became an over-the-road long-distance driver with Welborn Trucking and later an owner-operator in long-distance trucking. After leaving there, he became a farmer, from planting gardens and harvesting vegetables of all varieties, to upkeep of his home and an old home place in Bibb County. In his spare time he loved to hunt and fish with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A perfectionist in the best sense and a man of his word, Tommy believed in doing things the right way. Above all, he was a resilient and kind-hearted man who was always the first to offer help. He was a devoted husband, father, papaw, and friend, whose strong morals, honesty, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to extended family, Joe Franklin, Donna Simpson and Shawn Pearman, whose kindness, patience, and faithful presence brought comfort and peace during his final days. Special thanks are also given to his hospice nurses, Sandi, Brandy, and Shomyia, for their compassionate care, tender support, and unwavering dedication. Their love and service were a true reflection of God’s grace during this sacred time.
