Thomas Stanley “Stan” Redding was born on January 10,1952 in Tuscaloosa, AL. He passed away on August 12, 2023 at home.

The family will hold a memorial service on Wednesday, August 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Grants Creek Baptist Church in Fosters with Bro. Scott Garvin and Bro. Don Springer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lefty and Grace Redding and brother Ronald Redding.

He is survived by his wife Janice Quarles Redding, stepdaughter Hannah Swanson (Eric), sister Jan Tubbs and a host of nieces and nephews.

He started his softball career at the age of 14 in 1969. He played for the Wayne Smith team, coached by Hall of Fame member Doug Hollyhand. He also played for the Tuscaloosa Merchants, John Plott, Surgical Steel and M & M Printing. He played on seven state championship teams and three regional championship teams. He also participated in 10 ASA National Championships. He received MVP award in five state tournaments, winning one at the age of 18. He was considered to be the “best hitter in the State of Alabama”. He was inducted into the West Alabama Softball Hall of Fame in 2001 and Alabama Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in 2010. After his softball career, he went on to coach many girls fast pitch softball teams and umpired. He worked for M & M Printing and The Tuscaloosa News as a pressman. He loved his family greatly and always had the biggest smile on his face. To know him was to love him. He is now completely healed and in the arms of Jesus.
