Tennessee Teen Leads Police on Chase Across Alabama Before Arrest Outside Tuscaloosa
A Tennessee teenager was arrested in Tuscaloosa after leading police on a pursuit that spanned most of the state Saturday morning.
Senior Trooper Cody Farrar with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said the chase began around 7:20 a.,. in Centre, Alabama, in Cherokee County.
Troopers say a 15-year-old driver from New Market, Tennessee, was operating a 2023 Nissan Armada and refused to stop when a Centre Police officer attempted to pull them over
Farrar said the teenager got on U.S. Highway 411 and took that onto Interstate 59 before fleeing west.
Troopers say the Armada struck two civilian vehicles in Jefferson County before crossing into Tuscaloosa County, where they took Exit 77 but left the roadway and struck a fence and building.
Farrar said the teen then took off on foot, but was apprehended by a State Trooper without incident.
ALEA says the chase spanned five counties, but no injuries were reported and no force was used in the incident and no police vehicles were damaged.
The driver, 15, was arrested, and charged with felony eluding before being placed in the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center.
