Fire Destroys General Store In Alabama’s Historic Tannehill State Park
A morning fire at West Alabama's Tannehill State Park has destroyed the general store there.
The large, 2,000-acre park prominently features lovingly preserved buildings and the remains of the Tannehill Ironworks, which supplied iron for the Confederacy during the Civil War.
It is about 30 miles east of Tuscaloosa, spreads into three counties and is likely the closest state park to much of the Thread readership, except perhaps Lake Lurleen State Park.
Photos and video of the fire were posted to social media by Beth Floyd Carroll.
Volunteer firefighters from McCalla and Lake View responded to the blaze, but the store was fully involved.
