Taco Bell Delivery Prompts Bomb Scare at Federal Courthouse in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
An early morning bomb scare at the Tuscaloosa Federal Courthouse Monday morning turned out to be nothing more than a forgotten Taco Bell delivery, police have confirmed.
A Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesperson took to Facebook around 9 a.m. Monday to confirm that their officers were called to the courthouse about an hour before after someone reported two suspicious packages had been left on its front steps.
Law enforcement officers are tasked with thinking outside the box, and out of an abundance of caution, TPD dispatched its Hazardous Device Unit to make sure the packages were not dangerous to the public. Several TPD officers also set up a perimeter around the building, blocking nearby streets to foot traffic and passing vehicles.
Ultimately, though, the boxes turned out to be someone's large-scale delivery order from Taco Bell.
The TPD spokesperson humorously shared the contents of the bags: "a Taco and Burrito Cravings Pack from Taco Bell" that "had been customized to include an assortment of regular and Doritos Locos tacos, along with four beefy five-layer burritos."
TPD said they safely disposed of the fast-food order and reopened roads around the courthouse around 8:20 Monday morning.
