Surprised by Support, Sadie’s Diner at New Sprint Mart Closes to Hire More Staff
The operators of Vance's new Sprint Mart seriously underestimated the demand to try its attached Sadie's Diner, which has been temporarily closed to hire and train more staff.
As the Thread reported earlier this week, Sprint Mart and Sadie's Diner both opened at 10565 Daimler Benz Boulevard across from the MBUSI plant on Monday afternoon.
A day later, management at Sadie's decided to close the restaurant long enough to hire and train more staff. Like the Sprint Mart, Sadie's is meant to be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"The quick support for our new business from Vance and the surrounding community has been incredible," Management at Sadie's said on Facebook. "Sprint Mart takes great pride in providing world-class service, so in order to accommodate the overwhelming support, Sadie’s will be temporarily closed while we hire more staff and make adjustments to better serve the Vance community."
They said the new Sprint Mart is still open around the clock and will be not be affected by the temporary shutdown at Sadie's. Some hot, prepared food will be available there, including options from the station's Chix market.
No word on when Sadie's will re-open yet, but management said they hope to welcome patrons back again soon.
In the meantime, a job fair is going on today and will recur every Wednesday to meet staffing needs at Sprint Mart and Sadie's.
