Another New Starbucks Now Open in Tuscaloosa, Work Accelerates on Northport’s First
The second new Starbucks location in Tuscaloosa has opened on 15th Street, replacing a now-demolished tire store some described as an eyesore.
With the project wrapped up, an Alabama developer will accelerate work on their final coffee Starbucks location in the area - the first standalone store in the city of Northport.
As the Thread previously reported, each of the new stores is being brought by RJ Development, a Montgomery developer specializing in finding locations for national brands like Starbucks and Chick-fil-A, who said adding new locations in the area was a high priority for the Seattle coffee company.

Now, a new drive-through-only is open and serving customers on 15th Street next to Domino's, where T-Town Tire was demolished after 26 years in business.
Brice Johnston, a partner at RJ Development in Montgomery, said they're excited to see two of the three new stores finally finished and open for business, and thanked the city of Tuscaloosa for being easy to work with.
Now, work will accelerate on the drive-through that his firm will bring to Northport—the city's first-ever standalone Starbucks location.
Johnston said the team will soon pour asphalt and install the canopy at the final construction site, located on previously vacant land on Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard, across the highway from the Shell service station, between Lurleen and 20th Avenue in Northport.
He was hesitant to make too precise an estimate, but said his firm hopes the Northport drive-through can be fully functional sometime in December.
