Major, dangerous flooding has closed parts of Alabama State Route 171 and Jackson Trace Road in northern Tuscaloosa County and emergency officials are urging drivers to stay away from the affected areas.

As heavy rainfall continues to drench the area, these low-lying areas north of Coker have become inundated with water, with some reports indicating floodwaters there are three to four feet deep.

The Alabama Department of Transportation has closed the roads and the Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency is urging anyone in the area to seek higher ground and asking all drivers to stay away from the floodwaters.
