Deputies with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office arrested a juvenile Friday in connection to a widely shared video that showed a young man say he was planning a shooting at a school.

Deputy Jessica McDaniel, TCSO's public information officer, said in a Friday afternoon press release that their office was made aware of the video Thursday and their Criminal Investigations Division immediately began working the case.

As the Thread previously reported, the video showed a young person "joke" about killing Black students at a school and indicate he lived in Northport.

Although the Sheriff's Office said Thursday that there was no credible threat to any area school, CID still found cause to arrest the juvenile Friday.

A new Alabama law prevents McDaniel or any other law enforcement officer from releasing almost any information about the arrest of a juvenile, so his identity was not released Friday and TCSO did not say what charges were filed against him.
