
Ron Bolton Announces Reelection Bid For House District 61
Last month West Alabama State Representative Ron Bolton told Tuscaloosa Thread that he planned to run for re-election. Today he made it official, he is making his second bid for the Alabama Legislature in House District 61. His district covers Western Tuscaloosa County (including the City of Northport and Coker) and Eastern Pickens County (including the cities of Carrollton, Pickensville, Gordo, and Reform).
He has worked as the managing principal of The Warwick Group LLC., served as the camp secretary of Gideons International and on the board of directors of Tuscaloosa Shooting Sports Inc.

Bolton won the Republican Primary in May of 2022, taking 59% of the vote in the battle against fellow Republican Kimberly Madison. That fall he easily outpaced Libertarian candidate Damon Pruet with 89% of the vote in the General Election. He was sworn in to office the next day to fill the unexpired term of his predecessor Rodney Sullivan.
The former Northport Police Captain serves as chair of the Tuscaloosa County Legislative Delegation and sits on three house committees: Agriculture and Forestry Committee, Ethics and Campaign Finance Committee, and Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee.
The longtime member of the Alabama Republican State Executive Committee has sponsored or co=sponsored a number of critical bills during his first term including agriculture, rural health, and taxation.
During his first term Bolton has worked to expand Rural Broadband access assisted financially struggling rural healthcare systems; backed counties and cities in getting a fair share of road and bridge funds from the state; and supported economic development across his district.
"I've had the privilege of representing our district for the past term, making many friends, helping neighbors solve problems, and helping to provide for the needs of our communities." Bolton said in his announcement. "I'm respectfully asking for the honor of continuing to serve."
Party primaries are set for Tuesday, May 19, with the general Election on Tuesday, November 3rd.
