Road Closures on Tuscaloosa’s Jack Warner Parkway Begin Thursday
Months of heavy road work will kick off on Tuscaloosa's Jack Warner Parkway on Thursday, which will lead to closures there through the end of 2023.
City officials said the work represents Phase 2 of the project to improve the riverfront road, which becomes Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the west and Jack Warner Parkway to the east.
The $73 million project, funded and planned by the Tuscaloosa County Road Improvement Commission, has already seen substantial improvements made to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard as part of Phase 1.

Phase 2 begins in earnest Thursday, and at 7 a.m., traffic will be restricted on Jack Warner Parkway starting at Greensboro Avenue and until reaching 21st Avenue to the east.
Patrons looking to support local businesses and restaurants will first have to access them from the east side of the project at 21st Street.
Sometime in October, that section of Jack Warner Parkway will close completely and local access will then be routed in from Greensboro Avenue to the west.
The project, which is expected to be complete by the end of 2023, will result in a freshly laid four-lane roadway divided by a landscaped median, six-foot sidewalks on the north side of Jack Warner Parkway, decorative roadway and pedestrian lighting and more.
