Tuscaloosa County Man Charged With Soliciting 12-Year-Old for Sex
A 42-year-old man from Ralph, Alabama is in the Walker County Jail after he allegedly attempted to solicit a 12-year-old girl for sex last week.
According to a deposition filed Wednesday, Robert Edward Renn contacted a 12-year-old girl on Facebook and arranged a meeting outside her apartment in Oakman, Alabama.
The victim's mother told the Tuscaloosa Thread that Renn sent messages saying he would bring her Xanax and Valium and take her to a "hideout." Even after the girl's parents took over the conversation without Renn's knowledge and made it clear that she was 12 years old, Renn reportedly continued to send sexually explicit messages and offered to come and pick her up since she couldn't drive.
Last Monday night, Renn allegedly traveled more than 60 miles from Tuscaloosa County to Oakman to meet the child. When he arrived, however, he was intercepted by Walker County Sheriff's deputies, who arrested him and charged him with electronic solicitation of a child and enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes, Class B and C felonies respectively.
Renn remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Monday afternoon on a $100,000 bond.
