An Aliceville man was charged with attempted murder after stabbing a relative of his multiple times, someone he told officers he'd been involved in a romantic relationship with for years.

On November 15, the Pickens County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle with an injured person inside.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer. Inside the vehicle they made contact with the driver Henry Dickerson, 54, and a passenger.

They then discovered that the passenger, a relative of Dickerson's, was slumped over and was bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his abdomen, neck and chest area, and was in serious condition. Deputies immediately called for an ambulance and performed life saving first aid until it could arrive.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment. He told officers that he and Dickerson were involved in an argument over some "family stuff," at which point Dickerson stabbed him.

When questioned, Dickerson waived his Miranda rights and admitted to cutting and stabbing his relative with a knife officers recovered from inside his left sock.

Dickerson also confessed that he and the victim are currently in a dating relationship, and have been romantically linked for years. He said he remembered feeling upset, but couldn't recall exactly what happened. He said he "didn't think he cut [the victim] that bad."

Investigators charged Dickerson with attempted murder due to the severity of the wounds. He was arrested and transported to the Pickens County Jail. No bond has been set at this time.
