A West Alabama man accused of beating and kidnapping a woman in Pickens County earlier this month has been captured in Mississippi, Pickens County Sheriff Todd Hall announced Tuesday afternoon.

Hall said a motorist driving down County Road 75 called the sheriff's office on June 11th to report a woman being beaten by a man in the Macedonia community.

By the time deputies arrived on the scene, all that was left there was an abandoned vehicle.

Hall said investigators were able to develop leads and identify a suspect quickly, and warrants were issued for the arrest of Timothy Prude, a 30-year-old Ethelsville man.

Prude was located at a motel in Lowndes County, Mississippi and was arrested there and held until he could be brought back to Pickens County, where he has been charged with kidnapping, assault, robbery, domestic violence and theft.

The county jail website indicates Prude is being held without bond,

Hall said the victim in the case was seriously injured, but is alive and recovering at home.
