
Peggy Joyce Rhodes McDaniel (October 22nd, 1948 – February 4th, 2024)
Peggy Rhodes McDaniel, age 75, of Greensboro, Alabama, formerly of Demopolis, Alabama, passed away on February 4, 2024, at St. Vincent's Hospice in Birmingham after a brief illness.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Annie Marie Smith Rhodes.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Joseph Clayton McDaniel, Sr., brother; David Nilmon Rhodes (Jean), sister; Maxine Rhodes Perry, two stepsons; LTC Joseph Clayton McDaniel, Jr. (Rt) (Kara), and James Caldwell McDaniel. She is also survived by nieces Regina Rhodes Hill, Andrea Rhodes Baker, (Jim), Penny Rhodes Stanford (Jim), Lena Marie Perry Broussard (Jimmy Lane), grandchildren; LCDR Jacob I. McDaniel, LT Stuart A. McDaniel (Keleigh Leonard), sister-in-law; Ann McDaniel Kidd, niece Martha Kidd Barger and five great nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.
Peggy graduated from the University of Montevallo where she received a Master's in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career at Marengo Academy and retired from the Hale County Public School System after 26 years of service. Peggy touched the lives of her family and the many students she had the pleasure of teaching over the years.
Pallbearers will include Christopher Hill, Johnny Johnson, Heath Stanford, Cody Strickland, and Jonathan Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Arthur Thomas officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery.
