TUSCALOOSA COUNTY: New Bar & Restaurant Coming Soon to Coaling
Entrepreneurs are aiming to open a new restaurant and bar in Tuscaloosa County soon, quickly filling the space left empty when a similar concept closed last fall.
As the Thread previously reported, Backwoods Bar & Grill in Coaling permanently closed after just a year in business, citing unprecedented inflation and a rocky economy.
The location won't stand vacant long, though, as other tenants have already leased the property and are planning to open a new restaurant serving southern cuisine and a separate but attached bar and lounge.
The restaurant side will be called the Silver Dollar and will feature lunch and dinner with breakfast on the weekends to start, plus a cafeteria-style hot bar for fast meals. A sneak peek of the menu posted to Facebook featured pork chops, meatloaf, beef tips, fried and grilled chicken and hamburger steak backed up by more than a dozen veggie sides plus appetizers and a slew of desserts.
The "adult side" of the new business will be called Wobbly's, a bar that owners say will feature cheap beer, pool tables with regular tournaments, dart boards, pinball machines, cornhole karaoke and more, with private space available for parties.
In another Facebook post, owners at Wobbly's said a Wednesday town hall meeting in Coaling went well and all systems are go for the new concept to open soon, optimistically as soon as March.
