Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Tuscaloosa’s Alberta City Tuesday Morning
A portion of University Boulevard is temporarily closed in Tuscaloosa's Alberta City after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday morning.
A police spokesperson said officers are blocking off University Boulevard East near Juanita Drive after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.
TPD is asking motorists to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
UPDATE, 7:30 A.M.: Stephanie Taylor, a TPD spokeswoman, has confirmed the accident was fatal and the pedestrian victim did not survive.
"Tuscaloosa Police were called to the intersection of University Boulevard East and Juanita Drive at 5:33 a.m. Tuesday after a pedestrian was struck by a car," Taylor said. "The victim, a 51-year-old Tuscaloosa man, was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries."
She said the driver remained on scene and cooperated with police as they investigate the collision.
