Pedestrian Fighting For Life After Being Struck By Car in Northport, Alabama
UPDATE, 10 A.M. MONDAY: The man who was injured Sunday night has since died at an area hospital.
A man was critically injured Sunday evening after he was struck by a vehicle on McFarland Boulevard in Northport.
Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, told the Tuscaloosa Thread that officers were called to the intersection of McFarland and Lurleen Wallace Boulevard around 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, police found a man had been struck by a vehicle on McFarland Boulevard West in front of the Northport Wendy's, Carpenter said.
The Northport Police Department, their Fire Rescue service and Northstar ambulance services were on the scene Sunday night and Carpenter said the man who was struck suffered life-threatening injuries.
NPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision and all westbound lanes of McFarland Boulevard were closed in the area at 7 p.m. Sunday as officers secured the scene and tried to work out what happened
