Alabama General Election 2022: Governor’s Race, U.S. Senate Race and Local Election Results
The 2022 Alabama general elections are open, with voting set to close at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
The Tuscaloosa Thread will update the results throughout Tuesday night as results come in from around the state.

Key Races to Watch
On the ballot, incumbent Governor Kay Ivey will face off against Yolanda Flowers, the first African American woman to run for governor in the state, and libertarian candidate James "Jimmy" Blake.
Katie Britt, who won against Congressman Mo Brooks in the June Republican primary runoff in June, will go up against Will Boyd and John Sophocleus to seek Senator Richard Shelby's U.S. Senate seat. Shelby is not seeking re-election as he retires.
Amendments to the Alabama Constitution
Amendment 1, formally known as "Aniah's Law," would entitle offenders to reasonable bail, except for those facing capital murder, murder, kidnapping rape, sodomy, domestic violence, sexual torture, human trafficking, burglary, arson and robbery charges, all in the first-degree, along with terrorism when the act is a Class A felony other than murder and aggravated abuse of a child under the age of 6.
The amendment was created to honor the memory of Aniah Blanchard, a 19-year-old student who was kidnapped in Auburn in October 2019 and found murdered a month later. Her alleged killer, Ibraheem Yazeed, was out on bail for various charges, including robbery, kidnapping and attempted murder.
Amendment 9, which applies to Tuscaloosa County, would add government oversight to privately-owned sewer systems that use public utilities in the town of Lake View. The wastewater treatment plant there is owned and operated by a private businessman and his practices have been decried by many of the town's residents.
