The city of Northport is taking measures to remind voters where to cast ballots during their August municipal elections after some residents received mailers containing incorrect details.

In a Monday press release and posts to their social media pages, the city said voters may be understandably confused after receiving mail-in reminders from the Board of Registrars that contained outdated, incorrect information about where to vote later this summer.

The city council voted in May to establish five election polling places, one in each city council district, despite the protestations of some voters concerned about parking availability, traffic problems, ADA accessibility, and the proximity of the District 2 polling place to the business of incumbent city councilman Woodrow Washington.

One mailer sent by the Board of Registrars shared on social media directed a voter to cast a ballot at the Community Center on Park Street, which is no longer a polling place in the August elections.

"Due to recent communications originating outside of the City’s control, we understand there may be some confusion regarding polling locations for the upcoming Northport Municipal Elections on August 26, 2025," the city said Monday night. "To help clarify, the City of Northport has prepared informational postcards that will be mailed to all registered voters residing within city limits. These postcards will reflect the newly established district lines and indicate each voter's correct polling location."

District maps and polling places can also be found on the city's website here.

The newly adopted polling places are as follows:

District 1: Northport City Hall 3500 McFarland Boulevard

District 2 New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 1317 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd

District 3 Daystar Family Church 3975 Watermelon Road

District 4 Northport Fire & Rescue Station 2 5410 Highway 69 North

District 5 Flatwoods Baptist Church 4520 70th Avenue Northport, AL 35473
