The woman who was struck and killed Tuesday evening in Northport was identified, according to a Wednesday morning release from the Northport Police Department.

Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said the victim was identified as 66-year-old Linda Sue Foley of Northport.

As previously reported, the incident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling south near the 2300 block of Lurleen B. Wallace Boulevard struck Foley as she attempted to cross the intersection.

In the release, Carpenter said the driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old Calera man, is not expected to face criminal charges in the incident.

Carpenter said the accident remains under investigation with the NPD traffic reconstruction unit.
