A Northport man was arrested early this morning and charged with 9 crimes related to child pornography, police announced Wednesday.

Phil Simpson, the commander of the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force, said his agents sought and obtained a search warrant for a home on 16th Street in Northport and executed that search around 6:15 Wednesday morning.

Inside, they found cause to arrest 22-year-old Thomas Ramos Chaial. He has been formally charged with eight counts of possession of pornographic material depicting the sexual abuse of a child and one count of disseminating material depicting the sexual abuse of a child, Simpson said.

Chaial was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where his bond was set at $150,000.
