The Northport city elections are on August 26th. Council President Christie Bobo is seeking reelection.

Bobo was the subject of a recent article written by Ryan Phillips in the Patch. She joined the 953 Bear Steve & DC Morning Show to talk about it.

Phillips wrote that he had made it his policy not to accept political advertising. He explained that he did not want his writing influenced in any way by candidates and campaigns that spent money advertising. So he was surprised to see advertising for candidate Bobo. Phillips questioned if the Bobo campaign had gone behind his back to buy the advertising.

Christy Bobo explained that her campaign’s ad purchase was made on her behalf with the Patch corporate staff.

Bobo told Steve & DC listeners it was just a communication issue. There was nothing sinister about the purchase. She added that she had respect for Phillips as a journalist.

Bobo also talked about the controversial Northport Beach development project. While many constituents were supportive, some had questioned the location.

Steve & DC pushed Bobo to work on bringing a movie theatre and a Culver’s restaurant to Northport if elected to serve another term. Bobo promised to continue fighting the good fight to bring new business to the city of Northport.
