New Details from Officials, Family on Missing Hoover Woman
Earlier reporting from the Thread revealed that Carlee Russell had returned home safely Saturday evening after going missing on Thursday night.
Since that update, officials and Russell's close contacts have spoken out with more details on the situation.
The Hoover Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers arrived on the scene of Russell's disappearance "within five minutes of being dispatched."
After finding no trace of Russell, an investigation "immediately began in earnest." The police department said multiple agencies became involved in the search and "no stone was left unturned."
The search concluded when the Hoover Call center received a call from Russell's residence "that she had returned home on foot."
The Hoover Police Department told the public they would "continue to investigate" and release information as it was determined to be "factual and pertinent to the public."
Since then, Russell's partner, Thomar Simmons has spoken on the situation.
In a post on Instagram on Sunday, Simmons expressed his gratitude to his "lord and savior Jesus Christ" and to everyone who helped with the search.
Simmons said Russell would not be able to give any updates "until she's physically [and] mentally stable again" and asked for the public to be respectful of her situation.
Russell's mother, Talitha Robinson-Russell posted Sunday on Facebook with updates on Carlee Russell as well.
Robinson-Russell also expressed thanks to God and the public "for all the acts of kindness, generosity and compassion."
Asking for privacy at this time, Robinson-Russell revealed that the family had "not slept for 3 nights" and was "mentally and physically exhausted."
Robinson-Russell confirmed the family would give a statement to the media "in the near future as this is an ongoing investigation."
But she expressed her thanks to the media "that cared enough to share this story" and spoke against "negative thoughts" and "unvalidated opinions" that might arise in the next hours and days.
Stay tuned to the Tuscaloosa Thread for updates.
