Hoover Woman Reported Missing After Stopping on I-459 [VIDEO]
A West Alabama woman has been reported missing by the Hoover Police Department.
The police department said that 25-year-old Carlethia "Carlee" Nichole Russell has been missing since Thursday night.
Hoover Police reported that on Thursday night "at approximately 9:34 p.m." the Hoover Call Center received a 911 call from Russell.
Russell told the call center that she was on I-459 South near mile mark 11 and had stopped after seeing a toddler walking on the side of the interstate.
The release from the Hoover Police Department recounts that after calling 911, "the caller stopped to check on the child and called a family member to report the same details."
According to the family member, they "lost contact...but the line remained open."
The Hoover Police Department said that officers "who were already en route to the location of the 911 call" located Russell's vehicle and some of her belongs. However, they were unable to find her or a child in the area.
On Friday night, WBRC Fox6 News reported that it had obtained traffic camera video from I-459 at the time of Russell's disappearance. Here is that footage, via Facebook:
Hoover Police revealed that they "have not received" any call of someone missing a small child.
The police department described Russell as a black woman, 5 feet 4 inches and 150-160 pounds. The department said that she was last seen wearing "a black shirt, black pants and white Nike shoes."
Anyone who thinks they have seen Russell or may have information about her whereabouts is asked to call Detective Brad Fountain at 205-444-7562.
