
Nancy Carol Espey Oswalt (May 7, 1944 – September 9, 2026)
Nancy Carol Espey Oswalt, 82, of Northport, Alabama, passed away September 9, 2026, at Hospice of West Alabama.
Carol was born at home in 1944 to Edna and Milton Espey. She was married to Gordon Oswalt for 49 years before his passing. Carol drove a school bus for Northside schools for 30 years, but she served the Brownville community even longer, preparing hot biscuits and homemade lunches at Oswalt's Grocery, the store she ran with her husband, for the workers at nearby Sullivan Lumber Company and Brown Wood Preserving Company. Carol was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. "Mawmaw Carol" to her grandchildren, she was known for her red velvet cakes, her green thumb, her sense of humor, her love of sparkly jewelry, and for making everyone she knew feel like family.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister, Joyce Beard.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Guin (Terry); sons Phillip Oswalt (Dana) and Andy Oswalt (Jill); grandchildren Jill White (Chris), Ryan Oswalt (Katie), Russ Guin (Nathan), Alex Guin, Lacey Hulsey, Presley Bailey (Walt), Hallie Oswalt and Kalen Oswalt; great-grandchildren Kyla Harbin, Lily Harbin, Jack White, Rosie White, Emery Oswalt, Tatum Oswalt and Whitley Oswalt; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2026, at Campground Methodist Church Cemetery with Bro. Scott Stephens officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing.
Pallbearers will be Russ Guin, Alex Guin, Ryan Oswalt, Kalen Oswalt, Chris White, Nathan Hadley and Walt Bailey.
