Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa's Movies in the Park screening Saturday has been postponed due to the threat of severe weather.

With thunderstorms predicted throughout the day and a chance some could be severe, the company decided Friday to proactively postpone the event out of an abundance of caution.

Will Ferrell's holiday classic "Elf" was scheduled to be screened Saturday in Government Plaza for a Christmas in July theme, and the promotions team at Townsquare has tentatively rescheduled the event for sundown next Saturday, July 16th.

The weekly Movies in the Park series was launched last year and screens a free, family-friendly movie on a projector at Government Plaza every Saturday for six summer weekends.

Thanks to all who have made the second year of Movies in the Park a weekly success, and cross your fingers for clear skies next Saturday for the rescheduled screening.
