
Fayette County Man Gets Life Sentence For Multiple Crimes
36-year-old Matthew Bruce Page will serve life in prison following his conviction on multiple chargesin April. The Fayette County man will serve life in prison along with two concurrent 20-year sentences.
24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Andrew Hamlin listed Page's convicton on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, failure to affix a tax stamp, certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol, and attempting to elude law enforcement officers.

"This wasn't a one-time mistake. This defendant had a long history of criminal behavior, repeatedly ran from law enforcement, and even attempted to avoid the court process itself,” Hamlin stated.
During yesterday's sentencing hearing, prosecutors presented evidence of Page's extensive criminal history. He had prior felony convictions to include two convictions of Receiving Stolen Property in the Second Degree and one conviction of Shooting into an Occupied Building.
Officials said Page also carried convictions for Domestic Violence and six prior convictions for Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer.
Hamlin said Page endangered the lives of motorists, pursuing officers and himself in 2022 when he led Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies on a high speed chase before crashing the motorcycle he was riding. Deputies recovered a large amount of methamphetamines, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm he had discarded during the chase.
