Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue is currently responding to a massive house fire in Cottondale after an initial call reported an explosion inside the residence.

The fire engulfed a residence at 6008 17th Street East in Cottondale, Alabama sometime early Monday morning.

Holly Whigham, a spokesperson for TFR, confirmed the fire was initially reported as an explosion. There is no word on how many people were inside the house at the time of the incident, and no word on any injuries reported.

Jessica McDaniel, public information officer for Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, confirmed to The Thread that sheriff's deputies were at the scene.

She was not able to confirm any other details as of publishing.
